As home of the best selling Irish whiskey in the world, it only seemed right that Cork had it’s very own Whiskey Festival.
To celebrate whiskeys from Ireland and across the world, Festival Cork will be working alongside some of the cities best know bars and restaurants on April 14th – 17th 2016 to bring you tastings, talks, tours and treats.
Collaboration from Irish Distillers, West Cork Distillers and Hyde, but to name a few, ensures a great weekend for all.

Burn’s Night Supper @ Coqbull
To many, Scotch whisky is liquid poetry and a thing of sweet beauty. Robert Burns was certainly a gentleman who understood this better than others.
The Burn’s Night Supper @ Coqbull is the celebration of the life and poetry of Robert Burns on, or near, his birthday of January 25th. Considered the national poet of Scotland and a onetime excise man to boot, many of his poems and songs feature well-lubricated hospitality and specific praise of whisky.
Join in for a celebration of Burns Night when our token Scottish Cork Whiskey Society member, Mr Ewan Paterson, will guide you through a night of whisky, Haggis and Scottish poetry.

Pearse Lyons Whiskey Tasting
Join Pearse Lyons in Cronin’s for an evening sampling the Pearse Lyons whiskey range.
Hosted by Tyrone Kellet, you will taste and learn about Dublin’s newest boutique distillery and whiskey experience.
The tasting will include all four Pearse Irish Whiskeys: Pearse The Original, Pearse Distiller’s Choice, Pearse Founder’s Choice and Pearse Cooper’s Select. Not only that, but you will also try a signature Pearse Lyons cocktail on arrival as well as some light nibbles from the Cronin kitchen, creating the perfect whiskey food pairing. The evening will be finished off with a Pearse Lyons signature hot whiskey, made with hazelnut syrup.
After years of work, the Pearse Lyons Distillery had it’s grand opening in August 2017 in the Liberties area of Dublin city centre. Having set up shop in a church that’s been deconsecrated since 1964, owners Pearse (RIP) and Deirdre Lyons underwent major refurbishments to the building with new additions being a walkway through the outer graveyard and specially made stained-glass windows.

Whiskey Tastings, Cooperage Demo, BBQ & Live Music
Join the expert team from Irish Distillers, for a special evening of whiskey tastings, cooperage demonstrations, great food and special music.
You are invited to arrive at 5 pm to Blair’s Inn, the traditional country pub where John Ryan of Irish Distillers will be on hand to guide you through a very special evening of whiskey tasting, which will include: Jameson Caskmates IPA edition, Jameson Black Barrell and Green Spot.
Then, once you’re nicely warmed up, you will be treated to a cooperage demonstration by Irish Distillers Master Cooper, Ger Buckley. Ger is a fifth-generation Midleton Cooper and a true craftsman in the purest sense of the word. He will demonstrate the intricacies of the whiskey barrel as well as show you some of the tools and methods of the age-old craft of cooperage. Ger is proud to tell you that “50% of a whiskey’s taste comes from the wood so that the wood and distillation process have an equal effect on the taste”. To prove this point, Ger will then take you through a tasting of his own creation – the Coopers Croze from the Whiskey Makers series.
After the demonstration, enjoy a BBQ in the beer garden showcasing the best of local suppliers from the Old Butter Roads. You will be treated to the best of local Sliabh Luachra music to keep the festival vibe swinging!
Cork Whiskey Society @ Tequila Jack’s
The annual “Other Spirits” events are designed to inform our members about the exciting world of Spirits outside our beloved Whiskey. The Society is thrilled to partner with Tequila Jacks Restaurant & Tequila Bar for this special event.
Guests will be welcomed with a well-prepared Margarita using 100% Agave Tequila no less,
You will enjoy traditional Mexican Sangrita with the first samples before platters of Mexican Food (think Taco’s, Chicken Taquito’s, Chicken Quesadilla, Queso Fundido etc.) will be gladly introduced.
You’ll also sample a curated selection of the variously matured styles of Tequila, and one artisinal Mescal, before finishing on the national cocktail of Mexico: The Paloma.
Samples on the night will include the following varieties:
- Patron Tequila “Blanco“
- Olmeca Altos Tequila “Reposado“
- Tequila “Anejo” (either Don Julio or Jose Cuervo 1750)
- Tequila Esperanto Sellecion “Extra Anejo“
- Union Viejo Mescal (come along to learn about this smoky Mexican)
