Open to anyone who likes wine, socializing, having fun and, above all, enjoys a challenge – Speed Tasting in L’Atitude 51 is perfect.

Here’s how it works: we teach you the basics of how to taste wine and then it’s over to you – you taste 6 wines over the course of the evening – but you’ll be on the move: a different table, a different wine, different co-tasters. And here’s the fun part…..you taste all the wines blind (i.e. we won’t tell you what each wine is) – it’s up to you to work with your co-tasters to try to guess based on the information provided at the start. There’s a prize for the person who correctly identifies all 6 wines.

Price €30pp – includes Prosecco reception, introduction to wine tasting, taster of 6 wines & canapés.

Sean and Caro Feely’s long-held dream to go wine-farming was clinched in 2005 when they bought a rundown vineyard in South West France. Both were professionals in Dublin city with more experience in spreadsheets and presentations than in farming and fermentation.

Now twelve years into the adventure they celebrate not a misty dream, but years of hard work and the inspiration of working with nature and nurturing their farm back to the full health and flavour of a living biodynamic soil.

Sean and Caro will be hosting this very special Ballymaloe House wine event. Caro will be talking about their personal wine-farming experiences and discussing the character of individual wines before joining guests to enjoy a thoughtfully paired Ballymaloe set menu.

This month’s CineCafe – Back to Burgundy is about three siblings are thrown into turmoil when their father dies; the value of the wine estate they inherit is now astronomical. Inheritance tax must be paid, and they cannot possibly afford it.

The film explores the painful family dynamic and how the problem is finally resolved, somewhat improbably without selling out.

Against a scenic backdrop of Burgundian villages and vineyards, the seasons pass, beautifully shot, and we see the work in the vines, vat-house and cellar.
